Fried Pomfret I Coastal Style fish


Ingredients :

  • Pomfret fish- 1 medium size
  • Red Chillies whole- 4-5 no.
  • Black peppercorns- 1 tsp
  • Green cardamom- 2-3 no.
  • Cloves- 4-5 no.
  • Coriander seeds- 1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds- 1/2 tsp
  • Onion- 1 medium size
  • Ginger pieces- 1-2 inch
  • Garlic cloves- 5-6 no. 
  • Tamarind (lime size)- 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar- 1 tsp
  • Semolina- 1/2 cup( as per requirement)
  • All-purpose flour- 1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil


Method:


  • In a mixie blender, add in all the spices, tamarind, turmeric pd, sugar, onion and grind to a paste.
  • Transfer the mixture in a bowl, add some salt and mix well. 
  • With help of the knive, from the center, cut the fish into two halves. Make some light gashes vertically and horizontally over the pomfret fish. 
  • Apply the masala paste well on the inner sides of the fish. 
  • In a plate, take some semolina, add all-purpose flour, pinch of salt, mix and sprinkle over the masala coated fish and tap so that the flour sticks to the masala. 
  • Turn over the two halves, apply the masala paste and sprinkle the flour over. 
  • Shallow fry the fish in hot oil until the fish is done, golden in color and crispy. 
  • Serve hot.
