Ingredients :
- Pomfret fish- 1 medium size
- Red Chillies whole- 4-5 no.
- Black peppercorns- 1 tsp
- Green cardamom- 2-3 no.
- Cloves- 4-5 no.
- Coriander seeds- 1 tsp
- Fennel seeds- 1/2 tsp
- Onion- 1 medium size
- Ginger pieces- 1-2 inch
- Garlic cloves- 5-6 no.
- Tamarind (lime size)- 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Sugar- 1 tsp
- Semolina- 1/2 cup( as per requirement)
- All-purpose flour- 1/4 cup
- Salt to taste
- Oil
Method:
- In a mixie blender, add in all the spices, tamarind, turmeric pd, sugar, onion and grind to a paste.
- Transfer the mixture in a bowl, add some salt and mix well.
- With help of the knive, from the center, cut the fish into two halves. Make some light gashes vertically and horizontally over the pomfret fish.
- Apply the masala paste well on the inner sides of the fish.
- In a plate, take some semolina, add all-purpose flour, pinch of salt, mix and sprinkle over the masala coated fish and tap so that the flour sticks to the masala.
- Turn over the two halves, apply the masala paste and sprinkle the flour over.
- Shallow fry the fish in hot oil until the fish is done, golden in color and crispy.
- Serve hot.
